Turning Challenging Times into an Age of Opportunity

In a challenging time for the sector, Merton Lawyers have rebranded and are recruiting and expanding their presence. The current climate has provided the ultimate test of Merton’s mettle, with the results clear proof that this progressive, agile law firm doesn’t just face challenges, it embraces them.

2020 has been a time to look towards the firm’s values to move forward. This has brought focus, as Merton continues its foray into the corporate sector – an area in which they’re experiencing exponential growth. The firm provides ‘clarity to realise every opportunity’. At Merton, this is not just something that’s said (or written in a press release): it’s put into practice.

A progressive firm taking ambitious steps.

‘This period has been defining moment for Merton,’ says co-founder Anthony Curtin. ‘In a time when others seem to be taking stock or treading water, we’re surefooted and ambitious in our push for domestic and global expansion. Merton is a challenger firm for challengers, partnering with entrepreneurs, investors and tech companies to unlock their true potential. We’re working with our corporate clients, who are also seeing this period as an opportunity. Our progressive new branding is a beacon to attract like-minded partners.’

A bold new look for a bolder future.

Working as an extension of the Merton team, agency Motherbird created a strategy and brand designed to challenge convention and shift perceptions of the contemporary lawyer’s role. The design references the unique ‘Merton lens’ applied to every matter, with a clear focus on the bigger picture and what matters most: results. It’s branding that defines not only how Merton will look, but also their outlook: bold yet personal – a boutique firm with a global reach.

Backed by a steady work flow, strong client base and trusted team, the firm is positioned for further growth. ‘The Merton Lawyers brand, whilst built on traditional values, brings a forward-thinking, contemporary approach to the industry,’ says co-founder Dave Rennex. ‘Starting from humble beginnings in 2016, our client base has grown exponentially. The new brand aligns our values and vision, connecting us to clients who share similar aspirations.”

Wanted: visionaries to bring the Merton vision to life.

As Merton Lawyers continue to grow, they’re looking for individuals and businesses that share their ambitions, with partner recruitments kicking off in Q4, 2020. This expansion will see Merton increase their current office presence within the Melbourne CBD, while allowing staff to work remotely – from home or the Hawthorn location. And with an expanding footprint in Sydney, New York and Singapore (opening 2021), Merton’s Melbourne office will offer secondments across locations to allow employees to have international experiences within the firm.

‘We are focused on creating an environment for our team that encompasses a modern working life balance that promotes flexibility, nurtures talented minds and drives results for our clients,’ continues Rennex. And as they continue to tailor their team to support specific client needs, Merton’s independent structure allow them to bring together the right people to produce solid outcomes for every client.
