The Month in Review: July
Law isn’t always suits and briefcases. Quite often, it’s a room full of passionate people who are impact-driven. We love celebrating our internal accomplishments and getting behind other businesses as they celebrate their own.
Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards
It is with great pleasure we congratulate Co-Managing Director, Anthony Curtin, who was nominated for Innovator of the Year in the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards. Anthony’s achievements are being recognised in a competitive legal market, using innovation to stand out from the crowd.
The Australian Law Awards are the awards program that continues to recognise those who work tirelessly to make the legal industry thrive and succeed.
If this looks familiar to you, that is because Anthony was also named a finalist in the Partner of the Year Awards last month. This is another incredible accomplishment and the entire Merton team is thrilled to see Anthony’s efforts celebrated.
Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce Property Forum
This month our Senior Conveyancer Georgina Langford-Jones attended the AICC Property Forum 2022 – ‘Dealing with volatility in the Property Sector’, featuring a distinguished panel of speakers:
Nicky Drobis (Director of Fender Katsalidis)
Sam Tarascio Senior (Founding Director of Salta Properties)
Alison Mirams (Founding CEO of Roberts Co.)
Brian Haratsis (Executive Chairman of Macroplan).
The Victorian property Sector is currently facing some of the toughest conditions seen in the last 20 years. At Merton Lawyers, we believe in following the lead of the best in the industry to navigate this environment and best protect our client’s interests.
As with all challenges - adaptation and innovation are the key to success. The current state of adversity will be corrected, by the likes of Building Contract terms, and more flexible building contracts as it allows parties to share risk.
While the panel were in agreement that current pain will be felt for a little while longer, there was optimism for the Sector in 2023, with one of the biggest takeaways being instability creates opportunity.
Pause Awards ‘22
Pause Awards is back for 2022 and Merton Lawyers are proud to be an official supporter with an aligned mission. We are ready for a bigger and better Pause Awards than ever before.
